I purchased this before I did any research on it. I got it to go with a Pentax K-x, but never found anything telling me exactly how to use it with that camera. The instruction manual left me feeling let down. So I purchased a Vivitar 285hv flash with the auto thyristor, and have been loving it bigtime. My wife wants a flash, so I got the 283 back out and started messing with it and found out that one just has to set the camera to TV and start shooting away. (please don't ask me how I found this tidbit of information out, it's embarrassing and basically deals with RTFM of the camera).
So yeah, this flash appears to be working great for me. I'll post back more as I put it through it's paces. (I just figured all this out about 30 minutes ago and have been running about snapping pictures; liked what I saw so much that I gave my wife the 285 HV)
